Long overdue post

Saturday, November 28th, 2009 by Dan

Hello everyone, and welcome back! It’s been quite a while since any updates have been posted on here. In that time, lots has happened, and I’m not sure if everyone knows about these things that have happened or not. So I’m posting this to let you know if you don’t already.

Corinne and I are co-business owners with her parents! We purchased a place called Clothes Tree which is a used children’s clothing store. We sell gently used clothing, toys, equipment, etc. All of our inventory is purchased from customers who bring their old stuff in, so it’s essentially consignment, but we pay for it up front rather than paying when/if it sells.

If you’d like to follow what’s going on in the store, we’ve got a blog you can check out. Occasional updates on sales, announcements, and other fun stuff.

Corinne is still doing well at Salon Desireé, and I just recently got a new job as a web designer at AWeber. So far it’s been a lot of fun, and I haven’t even begun a lot of the design work yet. It’s a fun working environment and everyone there is really nice and friendly. We’re going to a Christmas party there in a few weeks which should be fun.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Ours was a little low-key this year, but it was still nice. We got to spend time with family which is the most important part. And let the shopping season begin. Don’t wait too long!

Upgrades

Thursday, May 21st, 2009 by Dan

Hey there! I’ve made a few upgrades to the site, as you might have noticed. Some things were added, some removed. I took out the little “Notes” section on the sidebar. It never really got much use anyway. I also added a calendar to show events rather than just a listing, though I’m thinking of adding an “upcoming events” list under the calendar. Oh, I also removed the photo slideshow. That didn’t see too much use either, and with Facebook it’s pretty easy to see photos, and a little pointless to upload any on here as well.

There are also some changes to the back end of things. When you sign in, a dialog box will appear for you to enter your username and password. This adds to the user experience I think. There’s a nifty little toolbar at the top once you sign in. From here you can post a new blog entry and anything else.

I’ve also created a help page that you can check out if you’re not sure how to write a blog entry or create a new event for the calendar. It shouldn’t be too hard though.

Let me know how you like the upgrades and if anything is too confusing.

May Extravaganza!

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009 by Dan

Hello everyone! I just wanted to write about the month of May. It’s certainly a busy one!

Last Saturday the Hauk family had their May celebration. If you don’t know, there’s a ton of stuff we celebrate in this month. Mother’s Day, Debbie’s birthday, Kendra’s birthday, and my birthday are all celebrated together. Later in the month my parents have their anniversary (May 22).

Corinne and I both had a great time celebrating this year. It was so good to see everyone there and spend time with you all. Thank you so much for all the gifts and cards!

This past Sunday was Mother’s Day, and also graduation at Lycoming College where Corinne’s sister goes (or went). She is now an alum and is excited to start her grown-up life.

Coming up this weekend, Corinne and I are taking a mini vacation. We’re heading up to Wilkes-Barre to visit with her mom. Saturday we’ve got a day planned with her grandmother who also lives up that way, and then that night we’re all meeting my grandparents for dinner. Where has yet to be determined as of now, but it will be nice to spend time with everyone nonetheless. Then Sunday nothing is really planned. It will be a nice day to just relax and not really have to worry about anything. We both need that.

Summer’s on its way and I hope it’s a good one for you all. Congratulations to Abby who is graduating from high school in June! She’s pretty excited.

April Showers

Saturday, April 4th, 2009 by Corinne

Hello, All!

It is officially (a couple days into) April. So far the spring as been treating us well, except for last sunday. We had an extremely windy evening, filled with marble sized hail and tornado warning/watches. Very glad it was no more than that for us.

We have been keeping very busy since the last post. We saw Abby’s last high school musical, The Music Man. Dan and I went up to Williamsport to see Melody in her college’s production of Mid Summer Night’s Dream, in which she played Puck. Dan has had many interviews with bands for his online video podcast. I have gone to some classes and have a few shows coming up, one of which is tomorrow in Valley Forge.

We’re hoping to be able to get away at some point this summer. Even just a short trip to the beach would be nice. We have had so much fun in the past with family vacations at the beach, and we’d love to be able to do something this summer with everyone!

We hope all of you have been having a good Spring so far, and continue to do so! Enjoy the warmer months and all the blooming flowers!

Lots of love to all!

Corinne

Almost Spring!

Sunday, March 1st, 2009 by Sue Keller

Hi Everyone!  February must have been an uneventful month for most of us, as there wasn’t any new news.  But I enjoyed February because Abby and I celebrated our birthdays at Debbie and Dave’s on February 22 (our actual birthday is February 16).  I was 74 and Abby was 18.   Lots of candles!  It was great to see everyone.  Looking forward to the next Hauk get together.

Today is March 1.  I guess it’s coming in like a lion, cause it’s supposed to snow.  However, Daylight Savings Time and Spring are just around the corner.  Can’t wait!

Hello to all,

Sue
